Truro-based company gasworld has staged the first ever Middle East Industrial Gases Conference in Dubai. With 160 delegates representing 80 companies from 32 countries attending, this was a truly international event for a global audience.
Investment from Finance Cornwall’s Loan Fund originally enabled gasworld to develop and launch a specific magazine for the specialist market in industrial gases, which is now held in internationally high esteem. The magazine has since become the major part of gasworld’s business.
The New Industrial Gas Frontier Conference, held in December, was organised to highlight the untapped industrial gas potential of the dynamic Middle East region. Topics addressed, by speakers from 10 different countries, ranged from new technologies and safety to leading-edge applications, developments in transportation and visions of the future for the industry.
Speakers and delegates included high-profile senior executives and directors from three of the world’s six largest industrial gas companies Air Products, Linde, and Air Liquide, as well as from Emirates Industrial Gases, Herose, Inox India, Wessington Cryogenics, VRV, Cryolor, and many more.
Sharon Sandercock, gasworld Conference Manager, said: “The feedback has been tremendous and we certainly left delegates with a positive image of the region and of the business opportunities that exists. We are now focusing on, and looking forward to, our second international conference scheduled to take place in South Africa in June this year.”
Mike Wall, the Finance Cornwall Loan Fund Manager, said: “It is great to see a Cornish company having such a presence on the international stage and gratifying to have played a significant part from its early days.”
