Who Are We?

Finance Cornwall is a £20m venture investment fund targeting small and medium sized enterprises (Do I Qualify?) in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, with a range of equity, mezzanine and small loans. Finance Cornwall can lend or invest from £20,000 to £1 million per business and is part funded by the EU through the Objective One Programme for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

For our portfolio companies, we may also offer business planning services and mentoring through a network of qualified professionals and a panel of non-executive directors to help businesses achieve their goals.

The Finance Cornwall team:

Robert (Rob) Jon Seymour - Managing Director, Finance Cornwall Fund Managers

Rob is responsible for all aspects of investment activity; new business origination, negotiating, structuring and executing transactions, post-investment monitoring and management. He has worked in private equity for over ten years – Finance Cornwall since 2004 and, prior to that, Botts & Company (1996-2004). Rob also worked for Credit Suisse First Boston (1991-1996) and PA Consulting Group (1988-1991).

Michael John Wall ACIB - Business Fund Manager

Mike manages Finance Cornwall’s Business Loan Fund. Cornish-born and raised in both the UK and Canada, Mike has extensive experience and expertise in the financing options available to both small and medium sized businesses. He also has insights into the workings of the UK’s banking system from his 27 years' experience in the sector.

Victoria Holroyd – Investment Manager

Victoria joined Finance Cornwall as an Investment Executive in 2006. Her role is to negotiate and structure potential equity and mezzanine investments. Victoria studied law at Oxford University and later qualified as a Barrister. She spent three years practising at the Bar in Cornwall and holds an Executive MBA and a number of Securities Institute qualifications. Victoria spent five years specialising in Private Equity within Corporate Finance for PricewaterhouseCoopers and KPMG.

Melvyn (Mel) Adderley - Finance Director

Mel is a qualified ACA with substantial Corporate Finance and general financial and commercial experience. He joined Finance Cornwall in 2006 as Finance Director and sits on the FCFML Investment Panel. Mel was Finance Director of both WPS Insurance Brokers and the Richards Group (2002 – 2005) and, from 2000 - 2002, he was European Financial Controller at Nortel Networks Optical Components. Mel also worked as Corporate Finance Manager at Ernst & Young (1997 – 2000). Between 1987 and 1997 he worked at Francis Clark, where he gained his ACA qualification.

Heather Pastor - Fund Administrator

Heather's background was largely in insurance before starting and running her own businesses in both insurance, classic car spares and manufacturing. Joining Finance Cornwall in August 2002 to help co-ordinate the launch, Heather now looks after investee businesses post investment and oversees the roll out of the Money with Management rebate scheme.

Kate Humphries – Financial Controller

Kate deals with everyday financial management as well as producing management and statutory accounts. She spent five years as a financial analyst within local manufacturing businesses, followed by six years as the management accountant for Coastline Housing, before joining Finance Cornwall in August 2006.

David Furse – Freelance Consultant

David is Freelance Consultant responsible for activities such as portfolio management, handling new investment business and mentoring on behalf of Finance Cornwall. David has worked in the banking, consultancy and regional venture capital sectors and was part of the team that headed up initial operations at Finance Cornwall, therefore having a vested interest in Finance Cornwall’s ongoing success.
